The HIV RNA test looks for the HIV virus's genetic material (RNA) in the blood, whereas the HIV 4th Generation Antibody test looks for HIV antibodies and antigens. Antibodies are proteins that the body's immune system produces in an attempt to destroy foreign substances such as bacteria or viruses, in this case HIV. The HIV Antibody test detects HIV p24 antigens, which are foreign substances that cause an immune response.

If you test positive for an STD, you will have the opportunity to speak with one of our doctors. The doctor will explain your positive STD results and give you the opportunity to ask questions. The physician will be able to prescribe you treatment and send the prescription to your local pharmacy for an additional very small fee.

It is dependent on the type of test you are taking. There is no need to prepare for a blood test for STDs like HIV, syphilis, hepatitis A, B, and C, oral herpes, or genital herpes. If you are taking a test that requires a urine sample, such as chlamydia or gonorrhea, do not urinate for at least one hour before the test. Aside from that provision, no further preparation is required.
